It is clear that Rupit is an emblematic place for hiking trails in Catalonia. It is a magical and very special place for those who love the mountains. Most of the routes are circular and start from the village, which is a 5-minute walk from the campsite. Hike the different routes that surround the village to discover places full of vegetation and to breathe in pure nature air.

Family hiking trails

• Rupit - Salt de Sallent: It is the most known and classic route in the area. It is also perfect to walk with children because it is a short route from about 5 kilometres long. The route starts in the village: after Rupit’s suspension bridge, you go towards the centre of the village and continue to the end. Along the way you will come across several itineraries, but don't worry as most of them end at the same place. Once you enter the forest, walk along the banks of the river to the first waterfall, which is just below the source. About 2 minutes further you will find a waterfall that you can see from below and where you can even cool off. Then at only 4 minutes further you will find the Salt de Sallent, an impressive and spectacular waterfall.

• Rupit - Hermitage of Santa Magdalena: This route is one of the shortest, so if you're coming with toddlers it's perfect. Like the previous route, it starts in the village: at the end of the cobbled streets of the city centre, on the right you will find a path that takes you to the hermitage of Rupit. From there you can enjoy a charming view of the village.

• Camping Senia Rupit - Rupit: When you are at the campsite, you can access the village through a delightful path that runs through the forest. The path is very short, but if the kids are very small, be careful because there are quite a few stairs. Along the way you will find an impressive viewpoint from which you can take some very pretty pictures of Rupit.

Shall we go a bit further?

In the area of Osona, and more specifically in Rupit , there are many hiking trails to take by mountain bike of by foot to enjoy nature like nowhere else. The most famous for their beauty and landscapes are:

Mirador de Sallent (3.9 km)

Rocallarga via GR2 and camí de Tavertet (11.3 km) It is a circular path, very close to Rupit, on which you can observe the rich flora and fauna of the place. It is a mid-level route.

Rupit - Alt de Roca Roja (17.5 km) This easy route is fun to do both walking or mountain biking.

Rupit to Taradell (40 km) This is one of the toughest routes in the area and is over 40 kilometres long. It is worth it if you like impressive landscapes.

Mirador de Vilanova de Sau (2.5 km) If you want to walk, a little bit more than 30 minutes away is the Mirador de Sau, an impressive viewpoint from which you will see the Sau Reservoir. Amazing! Check it here
