- Ciudadela Park and the Zoo: This large park will allow you to escape for a moment from the streets of the city. You can take a family outing, meet a mammoth statue, rent a boat to navigate the pond... And of course, you have to take a walk around the Barcelona Zoo, whose entrance is at the end of the park. Children will be delighted to see so many animals that they have never seen.

The geek triangle, on the other hand, is made up of bookstores, game cafés, retro video game shops… located in the area that goes from the Arc de Triomphe to Plaza Tetuan (Passeig Sant Joan and surrounding streets).
- Labyrinth of Horta: to spend a fun afternoon outdoors but away from the screens. The Horta Labyrinth Park is a garden that was commissioned by a marquis and designed by an Italian, a French and a Catalan. This park became public in 1971, becoming a place for walks in a welcoming biodiversity, between pavilions and small temples. Children love to find their way through the labyrinth.
What to see in Barcelona?
Of course we could not propose activities in Barcelona without talking about the must-see places and tourist monuments of this wonderful city. Its history, its architecture, its streets, are the reflection of several centuries of diverse influences, that keep living peacefully in a cosmopolitan environment.
So if you come on vacation to Barcelona, you have to visit, or at least see closely, the following sites:
- Sagrada Familia: its two facades, its endless works whose progress can be seen, its stained glass windows that surround its interior with dreamlike lights... We no longer present this jewel by the architect Antoni Gaudí.
- The Cathedral: This 14th century cathedral is a splendid building to visit (think about covering your shoulders and knees). The visit ends with the cloister and its small garden, an enclave of peace in the middle of the city.
- Passeig de Gracia, Casa Batlló and la Pedrera: this avenue, like the Champs Élysées in Paris, is the obligatory site for big high-end and luxury brands. But it is also where you will find two houses imagined by architect Gaudí: Casa Batlló and La Pedrera (or Casa Milà). Both are very beautiful inside, and even their facades will make you look up to contemplate their details.
- Catalonia Square and La Rambla: down the Rambla watch out for tourist traps, but it's a nice walk between Catalonia Square and the Columbus Monument. Along the way are street performers and small kiosks selling souvenirs and sweets. And of course, the Boquería market, a large and iconic covered market on one side of the Rambla.
- Park Guëll: one more work of Gaudí in case we were missing them, the Guëll Park is a wonderful and ingenious mix between ordered nature and architecture inspired by nature. You can walk calmly and enjoy the music of the artists between the arches
- Tibidabo: It is the highest point of the Collserola massif. There is the Tibidabo amusement park, still standing after more than 100 years (with renovations and improvements in between, of course). Kids love it, and parents too, for its incredible views.
- Montjuïc and Poble Espanyol: Montjuïc is the name of the hill that dominates the city of Barcelona. By extension, the surrounding neighborhood is also called that, as well as the Magic Fountains with their light and sound shows every summer, and also the cable car (which can take you to Tibidabo). In the Montjuïc neighborhood you will find Poble Espanyol. It is a 40,000-m2 space with recreations of houses and buildings from all over Spain, and handicraft workshops from all over the peninsula.
On the other hand, do not hesitate to go for a walk through the Born and Gothic neighbourhoods, and Gràcia. The labyrinth of its streets invites you to adventure, to discover its shops and restaurants. And there is a wide variety of shops where you can find souvenirs, clothes and gifts, and restaurants with different and new flavours.
The Gràcia neighbourhood is more like a village and makes you forget that you are in the middle of a city as big as Barcelona. If you come in August it is perfect because the neighbourhood festival takes place. The residents of Gràcia decorate their streets to compete and see who better recycles and has the most imagination. It is a festival of colours and sounds with a very peculiar charm.
And how not to go for tapas? If you want to do it for real, that is, in several establishments the same night, there are some recommended areas. Carrer de Blai (Poble Sec), Rambla del Poblenou (Poblenou), the neighbourhood of Barceloneta or Sant Antoni, are full of places with delicious tapas and pinchos.
But come on, if you are fed up with tapas (although it is hard to believe) and you want to travel a bit, you are in the ideal city. You will find restaurants with traditional Catalan cuisine, but also from Latin America (Mexico, Venezuela, Peru ... and more) or from Asia for example (Japan with buffets, or more elaborate and gastronomic, but also China, Vietnam, Thailand, South Korea, Nepal…).
In Barcelona, neither parents, nor children, nor their taste buds get bored!
