Campsites near Barcelona
To spend a perfect vacation, choosing a campsite near Barcelona and on the beach is the best advice we can give you.
This way you can enjoy excursions to the city of Barcelona, to visit its museums, stroll through its streets full of magic, discover dishes with new flavours... All this while having access from your campsite to a calmer environment to relax.
For example, you can choose one on the coast to have direct access to beaches with more space and fewer people. Unless you prefer a campsite in the mountains of Barcelona to take advantage of the hiking trails and the picturesque beauty of medieval villages. This obviously comes with the possibility of enjoying the modern facilities of the campsite: swimming pools with slides and water games, entertainment programs and shows, sports courts, restaurants...
Bungalows in Barcelona
If what you are looking for is comfort in a mobile home or a bungalow in Barcelona, you will find what you need. All the campsites near Barcelona propose, in addition to camping pitches for tents and caravans, accommodation options that have nothing to envy to 5-star hotel rooms.
You will only have to choose between different experiences the one that best suits your needs... or the one that seems the more appealing to you!
For example, if you are traveling as a couple, you can choose a luxury bungalow with modern finishes, with its private terrace, but above all its own Jacuzzi in the room. This is in the middle of nature, away from hotel corridors, elevators and city traffic.
Another ideal family experience is glamping: outside they are tents, but inside they are authentic wooden houses. They have all the comfort you are looking for, and an atmosphere of adventure that children love. Parents too of course, since these glampings near Barcelona are located a few steps from the beach! There is something for everyone, some with a loft room and a secret play space underneath.
Obviously, more traditional mobile homes and bungalows still exist and will continue to exist, thanks to increasingly ingenious and modern designs. Although it may sometimes be complicated, you will find some that accept your pet, whether it is in a campsite in Barcelona on the mountain or on the beach.
Then the excuses are over: all you need is camping!
Camping in Barcelona
We have also thought of those who are not going anywhere without their motorhome or tent. Camping in Barcelona is possible! If you are looking for a camping pitch in a campsite near Barcelona to come with your tent, van, caravan or motorhome, you will find campsites that meet your expectations.
On the one hand, you can treat yourself to the luxury of waking up on the seafront, with the sound of the waves and a view to the horizon. Some pitches are two steps from the sand, but they still have an electrical connection, and clean toilets very close. And on the day you want, you can take the car, or leave it in the parking lot and get on the train, to reach Barcelona in an hour.
On the other hand, why not set up your tent or park your motorhome on a pitch in the middle of nature, away from pollution and salt water. In one campsite an hour and a half from Barcelona, you will be in the mountains of the Osona region. It is the perfect place to rest in a peaceful natural environment, close to small villages, hiking trails, and the forest.

What to do with children in Barcelona?
Because visiting Barcelona with children needs a bit of planning. The typical attractions and monuments that you will find in any guide (and in this article as well) are not always very attractive for the little ones.
However, many museums and places are more appropriate or interesting for children. What would you do with kids who get bored when you talk to about cathedrals and past times? Well, here are some ideas of plans with children in Barcelona.
- Cosmocaixa: for little scientists, this great science museum offers a varied permanent exhibition. Children will not be passive, thanks to interactive modules that allow them to touch, learn, do experiments... They also have a small tropical forest and a large aquarium.
- Ciudadela Park and the Zoo: This large park will allow you to escape for a moment from the streets of the city. You can take a family outing, meet a mammoth statue, rent a boat to navigate the pond... And of course, you have to take a walk around the Barcelona Zoo, whose entrance is at the end of the park. Children will be delighted to see so many animals that they have never seen.
- Chocolate museum: we do not forget the most gourmets. Let yourself be guided by the smell of chocolate until you find this museum between the Ciudadela Park and the Picasso Museum. There you will discover the history of this ingredient, as well as the process from the tree to your plate. They also have a collection of chocolate sculptures of fictional and historical characters… The difficult thing will be to go out to the store without buying any of the quality chocolate they have
- The Maldà Galleries and the “geek triangle” are a mandatory area for children, young and old. Both are places full of stores for fans of series, anime, video games, role-playing games, etc. They have retro and more current references, so there is something for all tastes and ages. The Maldà Galleries, two steps from the Rambla, have stores dedicated exclusively to Harry Potter or Dragon Ball for example. The geek triangle, on the other hand, is made up of bookstores, game cafés, retro video game shops… located in the area that goes from the Arc de Triomphe to Plaza Tetuan (Passeig Sant Joan and surrounding streets).
- Labyrinth of Horta: to spend a fun afternoon outdoors but away from the screens. The Horta Labyrinth Park is a garden that was commissioned by a marquis and designed by an Italian, a French and a Catalan. This park became public in 1971, becoming a place for walks in a welcoming biodiversity, between pavilions and small temples. Children love to find their way through the labyrinth.
What to see in Barcelona?
Of course we could not propose activities in Barcelona without talking about the must-see places and tourist monuments of this wonderful city. Its history, its architecture, its streets, are the reflection of several centuries of diverse influences, that keep living peacefully in a cosmopolitan environment.
So if you come on vacation to Barcelona, you have to visit, or at least see closely, the following sites:
- Sagrada Familia: its two facades, its endless works whose progress can be seen, its stained glass windows that surround its interior with dreamlike lights... We no longer present this jewel by the architect Antoni Gaudí.
- The Cathedral: This 14th century cathedral is a splendid building to visit (think about covering your shoulders and knees). The visit ends with the cloister and its small garden, an enclave of peace in the middle of the city.
- Passeig de Gracia, Casa Batlló and la Pedrera: this avenue, like the Champs Élysées in Paris, is the obligatory site for big high-end and luxury brands. But it is also where you will find two houses imagined by architect Gaudí: Casa Batlló and La Pedrera (or Casa Milà). Both are very beautiful inside, and even their facades will make you look up to contemplate their details.
- Catalonia Square and La Rambla: down the Rambla watch out for tourist traps, but it's a nice walk between Catalonia Square and the Columbus Monument. Along the way are street performers and small kiosks selling souvenirs and sweets. And of course, the Boquería market, a large and iconic covered market on one side of the Rambla.
- Park Guëll: one more work of Gaudí in case we were missing them, the Guëll Park is a wonderful and ingenious mix between ordered nature and architecture inspired by nature. You can walk calmly and enjoy the music of the artists between the arches
- Tibidabo: It is the highest point of the Collserola massif. There is the Tibidabo amusement park, still standing after more than 100 years (with renovations and improvements in between, of course). Kids love it, and parents too, for its incredible views.
- Montjuïc and Poble Espanyol: Montjuïc is the name of the hill that dominates the city of Barcelona. By extension, the surrounding neighborhood is also called that, as well as the Magic Fountains with their light and sound shows every summer, and also the cable car (which can take you to Tibidabo). In the Montjuïc neighborhood you will find Poble Espanyol. It is a 40,000-m2 space with recreations of houses and buildings from all over Spain, and handicraft workshops from all over the peninsula.
On the other hand, do not hesitate to go for a walk through the Born and Gothic neighbourhoods, and Gràcia. The labyrinth of its streets invites you to adventure, to discover its shops and restaurants. And there is a wide variety of shops where you can find souvenirs, clothes and gifts, and restaurants with different and new flavours.
The Gràcia neighbourhood is more like a village and makes you forget that you are in the middle of a city as big as Barcelona. If you come in August it is perfect because the neighbourhood festival takes place. The residents of Gràcia decorate their streets to compete and see who better recycles and has the most imagination. It is a festival of colours and sounds with a very peculiar charm.
And how not to go for tapas? If you want to do it for real, that is, in several establishments the same night, there are some recommended areas. Carrer de Blai (Poble Sec), Rambla del Poblenou (Poblenou), the neighbourhood of Barceloneta or Sant Antoni, are full of places with delicious tapas and pinchos.
But come on, if you are fed up with tapas (although it is hard to believe) and you want to travel a bit, you are in the ideal city. You will find restaurants with traditional Catalan cuisine, but also from Latin America (Mexico, Venezuela, Peru ... and more) or from Asia for example (Japan with buffets, or more elaborate and gastronomic, but also China, Vietnam, Thailand, South Korea, Nepal…).
In Barcelona, neither parents, nor children, nor their taste buds get bored!
