Cultural Tourism
The capital of Catalonia is one of the main tourist cities in Europe. This is not only due to the quality of its Coasts, but also to the great cultural offer that you will find in the historical Streets.
In just a few days it is impossible to get to know all the magical places in the city, however, there are some must-sees that you cannot miss in Barcelona.
- Sagrada Familia: It is one of the main emblems of the city. This unfinished work by the artist and architect Gaudí is undoubtedly one of the main monuments to see in the city. The Catalan was one of the most influential characters in the city and is the greatest exponent of modernism in Catalonia. The first stone of the Sagrada Familia was laid in 1882; a construction that still lasts until today. You do not have to enter to realize that it is an architectural wonder, incomparable to any other temple in the world.
- Las Ramblas: The best known avenue in Catalonia and a place where you must go for a walk, buy souvenirs in some of the stalls and enjoy the street shows. By the way, at the end of the Ramblas is the Canaletas fountain and tradition has it that if your child drinks water from the fountain, it means that he will return to the city.
- Park Güell: It is located in the upper part of the city, specifically on the Mount Carmel. Despite being far from the centre and the rest of the city's emblems, you should visit it. The park is a reflection of the artistic fullness of the Catalan architect Gaudí.
- La Boquería: The best-known market in the city and in all Catalonia. It is located next to the Ramblas and there you can find everything. It is a market with much history and it was inaugurated in 1840.
- Gothic Quarter: It is located in the heart of the city and is the oldest neighbourhood in the capital. In it you can see how the passage of time has drawn the streets, achieving a charming atmosphere. Among the most famous works in the neighbourhood are the Cathedral of Santa Creu and Santa Eulàlia, the alleys of Carrer Bisbe until reaching the Plaza de Sant Felip Neri.
- Casa Battlló: This is one of Gaudí's best-known and most emblematic works. An architectural jewel of the Catalan artist that draws your attention for its spectacular façade.
If you want to see more, we also advise you to visit the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Santa Pau, El Born (It is next to the Gothic Quarter) and if you really want to have a great memory of Barcelona you should go to one of the viewpoints of the city (Mirador de Tibidabo, Mirador de Montjuic, Mirador de la Basilica de Santa María del Pi and El Carmel).
