Lovers of hiking and beautiful coves will be delighted. The Camino de Ronda is a path along the coast between Blanes and Portbou, which crosses sandy beaches, cliffs, pine trees and rocky coves....
Formerly, this road was used by the Guardia Civil to control and prevent smuggling activities coming along the coast. Smugglers arrived by boat on specific points of the coast to which access by foot was difficult or impossible, to arrive without being seen. But with the development of this road and the roundabouts made by the Royal Corps of Carabineros de Costas y Fronteras of Spain, and later the Civil Guard, this activity became much more complicated.
Today the Camino de Ronda is a well-known itinerary of the inhabitants of the villages of the Costa Brava, who use it to go for a walk or to access beautiful and quieter coves. By being so large, this path offers sections and itineraries of different difficulties. Some parts can be done with small children without problem, but others are more challenging and a little more dangerous.
Around Playa de Aro, Sant Antoni de Calonge and Palamos, you will find itineraries suitable for the whole family. This activity is ideal and not to be missed: it is a nice place to spend time with the family and keep fit under the sun of the Costa Brava with a few breaks in quiet coves surrounded by vegetation and turquoise waters.
This hiking route is a beautiful way to enjoy a nice walk, and runs along the coastline of the Costa Brava. This route connects the different towns on the coast and gives the opportunity to get to know hidden corners of the Costa Brava.
Through these routes you can reach spectacular places, from small coves with crystal clear waters to viewpoints on impressive cliffs from which you can contemplate the vastness of the sea. Obviously if you come to the Costa Brava you will have to walk at least part of this route.
Walking route from Camping Cala Gogo Internacional
One of the Camino de Ronda routes best appreciated by walkers is the one from Playa de Aro to Sant Antoni de Calonge. This route can be started from the beach to which the campsite has access.
Left to Sant Antoni de Calonge
Starting the route to the left of Cala Gogo Internacional, we reach the fishing village of Sant Antoni de Calonge. On the way you will pass through tunnels between the rocks, small bays with turquoise water and impressive views. This route is 3 kilometres long and can be done with children as there are no hard to reach areas.
Right to S'Agaró
This route has two options, it goes to Playa de Aro (2.2 km) or to S'Agaró (7 km). Our advice is to try to go to S'Agaró, as you can enjoy beautiful bays. You can also rest in Playa de Aro, a town known for its wide range of leisure and restaurants.
