Palamós is a charming coastal town with a lot of history. Its oldest building is the Church of Santa María de Palamós, or Santa María del Mar.
It is part of the Architectural Heritage Inventory of Catalonia. A chapel was built first in the fourteenth century, and then the current temple in the fifteenth century. This construction was enlarged, damaged and renovated over time. It was also damaged in the civil war, and rebuilt in 1942.
Apart from its architecture, you can observe the collection of sacred art inside, including the paintings by Isaac Hermes from the 1590s.
