Medes Islands
The Medes Islands form an archipelago are on just one kilometer away from the coast of L'Estartit. There are seven islets, which are part of a natural park, and have an incredible seabed.
Boats and ships from various eras passed through the Medes Islands, both Greek and pirates from the 15th century. Its last inhabitants left in 1934, leaving them uninhabited. Since 1983 the Generalitat de Catalunya began to develop environmental protection to preserve its natural wealth.
You can go on a boat trip (with a transparent bottom!) to see this jewel of the Mediterranean. And if you feel like it, it is also possible to dive to observe the algae, corals, fish, crabs and starfish that live there. Of course, it is better to inform you before since scuba diving in that area is regulated.
